I knew how I wanted silk to feel. I couldn’t find it.

I’m Daniela, a designer based in Zürich and the founder of CÆLO.

How something feels has always mattered to me as much as how it looks. I pay attention to texture against the skin, the atmosphere of a room and the difference one small detail can make.

After full, fast-moving days, I found myself drawn to the rituals that helped me slow down: letting down my hair, washing away the day and resting my head against something cool, smooth and gentle.

Before creating CÆLO, I tried several silk pillowcases and more than half a dozen bonnets, searching for something that felt genuinely beautiful against my skin and hair. None brought together everything I wanted.

Some were made from synthetic satin. Others used silk but felt thin, dragged against the skin or quickly lost their shape and finish after washing. They could look luxurious in a photograph without feeling luxurious night after night.

I learned that silk alone does not determine how a finished piece feels. Its weight, weave, construction and smallest finishing details all matter.

As a designer, I wanted to create something tangible and intimate, something that would turn an ordinary part of the day into a special kind of luxury. Clean lines, quiet tones and nothing unnecessary.

That search became CÆLO.

Developing the collection meant working through more than twenty samples across our pillowcases and bonnets. One early pillowcase was made from the same quality of silk but without piping; after washing, it felt noticeably less substantial. In other samples, the zipper did not sit discreetly enough within the construction, interrupting the otherwise smooth finish.

I continued refining the material, weight, fit, closures and construction until each piece felt soft without feeling flimsy and every detail felt resolved.

This is what I call intelligent softness: not softness alone, but the considered balance of material, structure and function. Beautiful enough to feel special, practical enough to become part of everyday life.

I work closely with a specialist silk manufacturer in the Suzhou region, backed by more than twenty years of silk-industry expertise. I personally shape every detail, from material and construction to colour, closure and packaging. Building CÆLO independently allows me to remain close to every product and refine it with care.

My hope is simple: that CÆLO gives you a moment to let go. Its cool, gentle softness helps you settle and turns bedtime into a ritual you look forward to.

A small daily reminder that choosing something beautiful for yourself is also a form of care.
